Direct messaging functions (including Summary of Care Records and Transmitting to 3rd party.  170.314(b)1-2 and (e).1

Summary of care records can be securely sent/received by/from offices which are transmitted using the primary Direct Project specifications.  The information sent may include clinical data, notes and other protected health information.

EMR Direct is the 3rd party provider for our Direct messaging functions.

Each provider, using Direct messaging, will pay a one-time setup fee along with an annual subscription fee to Medtech.  This will ensure each provider has one, Direct messaging address and up to two authorized users per provider.  Additional Direct messaging addresses may be purchased for an additional cost and additional authorized users may be added for an additional cost.

Excessive messaging volume will be subject to additional fees

Messages will be stored in the hosted webmail interface for up to 90 days

Electronic Prescribing (including Drug Formulary Checks) and Computerized Provider Order Entry

Permissible prescriptions and medication orders can be entered electronically using Dr. First, the 3rd party provider for electronic prescriptions/medications.

Each provider will be charged, by Medtech, a one-time setup fee along with an annual prescription fee.  

The concept of only permissible prescriptions refers to the current restrictions established by the Department of Justice on electronic prescribing for controlled substances in Schedule II-V. (The substances in Schedule II-V can be found at http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/schedules/orangebook/e_cs_sched.pdf). Any prescription not subject to these restrictions would be permissible.

You must have internet access.  Other than that, there are no technical limitations.

Immunization Registry Transmission and Syndromic Surveillance Data Submission 170.314(f)1-3

Capability to submit electronic data to immunization registries or immunization information systems and to submit electronic syndromic surveillance data to public health agencies
